How often should I get my AC serviced?

Why does a dirty coil matter so much?
The outdoor coil is how your system dumps heat outside. Caked in dirt, grass, and cottonwood, it can't release that heat — so the system runs longer, uses more power, can freeze up, and works the compressor to death. A clean coil cools better and costs less to run.
